Solutions
1 · LEARN FROM OUR BLOG & RESOURCES
Learn from the resources on this site to improve your understanding or teach others you work with.
- What are KPIs? KPIs are key performance indicators — the measurable values that show how effectively your organization is achieving its business objectives.
- What is a metric versus a KPI? A Metric is something you measure, a Key Performance Indicator can be a metric. Not every metric is a KPI, and not every KPI is a metric.
- What is a KPI versus a KBI? Key Performance Indicators vs Key Behavior Indicators. Performance indicators are typically outcome or outputs, Key Behavior Indicators are behaviors that tend to be input.
- What is a lead versus lag measure? A lead measure is something affecting the inputs or beggining of a process. A Lag Measure is something that is measure at the end or output/outcome of a process.
- What are cause-and-effect relationships? Y is a function of X. Metrics have relationships. Inputs are related to outputs. Part of the problem to solve in most businesses is understanding how changing some inputs changes the outputs.

- Establish a common metric taxonomy to get people in my organization speaking the same language when it comes to metrics, business outcomes, and goals.
- Establish a way of organizing all of the various metrics that our business has and connecting them to business strategy.
- Begin to assign ownership and responsibility to certain metrics.
